Madalyn Landing

Madalyn Landing, you drive by the place every day and don't you just wish that you could live there? Probably just glad you don't. Do you remember when the place was built. It was sold to the City as a Place for Professionals, high income earners. What happened there? The place resembles a public housing project more then a place where professionals dwell. Professional what ? pharmaceutical salespeople.
No I remember when they built the place and I must say it is probably has some of the best built buildings in the City. Solid concrete modular construction so its built well.
There are a ton of stories, rumors and opinions from residents who live near by, so I decided to see if any of this is true. The first one people love to say is, Madalyn Landing is a Section 8 Housing project now. Well according to the management its less then 20% section 8. I did believe the manager, but I also I contacted their corporate office Vestcor and they never returned my call. I think its pretty safe to believe the Manager on site and they say less then 20%. She says its even less and lives on site. So despite what we hear its not a Section 8 housing project just some section 8ers live there as they do all over the City.
Another popular one you hear from local neighbors is Since the place opened and "their" kids have brought Our Schools down. Why Jupiter Elementary used to be an "A" School now its a C. Simply not true Jupiter is a "A" School. The principal says so and so does the sign out front as well. Same with Southwest Middle school. So those little supposedly section 8 kids are not bringing the schools down.
Their kids cause trouble at Southwest. Yeah probably a little true but no more then some other neighborhoods in this Terd of a City. Lets face the fact, the City has tons of Single Parents Mostly single moms, and I say Tons because have you seen alot of them ? Not exactly lightweights I see them at the Walmart with a stack of WIC Checks and a Food stamp card. Two kids in the cart and one more yanking candy bars of the shelf. This isn't exactly a City full of MILFs. There are a few decent looking ones but they look like they have been ridden more times then that horse out in front of the store you pay a quarter to ride. Single parents equal more kids in trouble its just a fact. Mom is not really able to control the teenagers. despite what Hillary Clinton says it does not take a village to raise a child it take two parents.
Another Thing people say is The Police are there all the time, its a hot spot of criminal activity. This is true, the Police answer many calls atMadalyn Landing. I was not going to pay the money for the detailed records at the police station. they wanted like $12 bucks an hour and 15cents a page , But I will assure you that there were a lot of pages. So lets just say this one is true. The cops do go there a lot. But I do not think there have been any murders yet.
There are a few sites on the Internet that rate Madalyn Landings and former residents leave their comments. Didn't sound like they were too sad to leave. http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/FL-Palm-Bay-Madalyn-Landing.html
You cant please everybody.

They have a Zero Tolerance policy and they kick you out if you cause trouble, or get caught dealing drugs (just like public housing is supposed to hmmmmm). Police live at the complex. So its safe. They say it is But is Palm Bay really safe at least SW. Do you feel safe letting your wife run up to the Winn Dixie on Malabar at 9 pm amongst the mobs of Palm Bay youth strolling about window shopping?
All and all this story was a disappointment I was ready to Bash Madalyn Landings I don't like the place and I think it brings our neighborhood down. I dare them to build a place like it in Bayside. They would never have it there nor would the City Council. Madalyn Landing is just low Income housing in a City famous for its low cost housing and third world infrastructure. Just be glad you don't live there and they keep the grounds looking decent it could be worse. Hey I welcome your comments anytime fire away

  1. OK...I LIVED IN MADALYN LANDINGS WHEN IT FIRST OPENED IN 1999-2000ish...I CAN ADMIT THE DIFFERENCE THEN AND NOW IS ASTONOSHING, REALLY. A FRIEND OF MY NEPHEW AND I WERE SPEAKING OF THIS RECENTLY AND SHE TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A TEEN BOY ABOUT 16 THAT WAS CAUGHT SHOVING ITEMS INTO THE, I ASSUME OUTSIDE PLUMBING AS TO STOP UP EVERYONES COMMODES. HE WAS ALSO CAUGHT "KEYING" HER REALLY NICE TRUCK...ALL THE WAY DOWN THE DRIVERS SIDE..I TOLD HER TO PRESS CHARGES, HER RESPONSE SHOCKED ME...IT APPEARS HE IS MENTALLY HANDICAPPED AND CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I TOLD HER THEN IF HE IS, THEN WHERE IS HIS ADULT SUPERVISION AND THAT SHE SHOULD HAVE HIS PARENTS PAY FOR THE DAMAGES TO HER TRUCK.
